Olga Leskovec recently celebrated her 80th birthday and has been living with deafblindness for almost two decades. Her life has not been easy. Yet she has created art out of pain. Literally.
From colorful pieces of paper, prepared every day by her faithful husband Franc, she creates works of art: swans, bowls, paintings and small miracles. Each of her products carries a story. Each fold of paper is a memory. Each fold is a glimmer of hope.
When she first knocked on the door of the Deafblind Association of Slovenia DLAN, she was looking for a safe haven, a place of understanding and acceptance. A place of respect.
Today, she is an important part of the deafblind community. She is strong, creative and upright. Her art is not just a hobby, but an expression of courage that does not need words.
Olga says:
“If someone praises my product, I know that I have done something good. This is my contribution to the community.”
And indeed. Her works of art are gifts. Traces. Light.
Where the invisible and unheard is woven into colors and hands – there is Olga.
Thank you.
