After the establishment of the Slovenian Association of the Deaf-Blind DLAN, we needed people with hearts. There was no money, no employees – but there was a great need for help.

Stanka stepped forward without hesitation and said:

“I am deaf. But I have a big heart. I can help.”

And indeed. She has been faithfully interpreting and supporting people with deafblindness for 20 years.

There is no event where she is not present. And if she is ever absent – we all feel it.

Stanka says: “Deafblindness is a very difficult disability. I love helping people with deafblindness. I help from the heart. I can’t turn my back on them. Never.”

It is impossible to count how many hours of volunteering she has given.

She is also the one who encourages young people to learn the language of the deafblind.

With her, we learn with laughter, through stories and warmth.

THANK YOU, Stanka. You are part of the foundations of The DLAN Association.

Indispensable. Inspiring. A single heart.
