On Saturday, September 20, 2025, as part of the 31st Varaždin Half Marathon, the world’s first international 500m walking race for individuals with deafblindness took place. The participants competed with the assistance of their personal assistants or volunteers.
In beautiful sunny weather and with the enthusiastic support of the crowd, we embarked on a true competition and proved that we can truly push the boundaries of what is possible. All participants successfully completed the race, had a great time doing so, and set a new, historic milestone.
We also took the opportunity to walk through the beautiful streets of Varaždin, a city with a rich history.
A sincere thank you to the Trkački klub Marathon 95, Varaždin for the excellent idea, flawless organization, and warm hospitality.
We hope for more such events that connect us and contribute immensely to the quality of life for people with deafblindness.
