We are very pleased to announce that the second, updated edition of the book The Haptic Way of Communicating with People with Deafblindness (Haptični način sporazumevanja z ljudmi z gluhoslepoto), which is of great importance for the field of deafblindness in Slovenia, was published on 20th of December 2022. In addition to the basic haptic signs, new signs have been added to the book, which we have been developing in cooperation with people with deafblindness within the working group for the development of ways of communicating with people with deafblindness at the Deafblind Association of Slovenia DLAN and the Slovenian Association of Interpreters for the Deafblind TAKTIL. We have also added English translations of the signs and QR codes that link you to the online dictionary of haptic communication with people with deafblindness. Dictionary is available on the DLAN Association website and guides you through the execution of each haptic sign.

The book opens up a new space for redefining the understanding of communication with people with deafblindness and contributes to the redefinition of deafblindness and to the regulation of the fundamental rights of people with deafblindness, including the right to a language interpreter for people with deafblindness, as quickly as possible.

At the DLAN Association we would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have contributed to the publication of the new book and to the co-sponsors.

The book is available at the premises of the Deafblind Association of Slovenia DLAN.
