Dr. Simona Gerenčer, Secretary of the DLAN Association and President of the Rotary klub Ljubljana – Barje, presented the field of deafblindness and proposals for further cooperation to the Governor of Rotary District 1912, Rade Hristovski. She also expressed willingness to help to regulate the field of deafblindness in Macedonia.
As a token of appreciation, she presented the Governor with the books Stories of People Who Listen with their Heart and See with Their Palms: Living with Deafblindness I and II (Zgodbe ljudi, ki poslušajo s srcem in gledajo z dlanmi: Živeti z gluhoslepoto I in II) in Serbian and Slovenian languages. The follow-up book, Stories of People Who Listen with their Heart and See with Their Palms: Living with Deafblindness II (Zgodbe ljudi, ki poslušajo s srcem in gledajo z dlanmi: Živeti z gluhoslepoto II), also includes the story of a young girl with deafblindness from Macedonia, written by her mother, entitled: “A new world where we don’t need eyes and ears, just a heart and a soul” (“Nov svet, v katerem ne potrebujemo oči in ušes, le srce in dušo”).
