What does it mean to create in a world without sound and light? How can art take form when touch becomes the only bridge to another human being?

We are proud to announce that the exhibition of artworks by people with deafblindness is now on display at the Ljubljana City Library, in the Oton Župančič Library.

The exhibition “WHEN THE HEART GUIDES THE HANDS: Art Without Sound and Light” showcases the artistic creations of individuals with deafblindness – users of the Deafblind Association of Slovenia  DLAN. The art of those living with combined hearing and vision loss is a powerful expression of inner strength, courage, and creativity. It is art created in darkness and silence, emerging directly from the heart.

These artworks are a testament that creativity does not require eyes or ears – only heart, will, and soul.

You are warmly invited to visit the exhibition, which will be on display at the Oton Župančič Library until September 26, 2025.

We hope it will inspire all visitors to delve deeper into the world of art shaped by people with deafblindness, and to join us in building a more inclusive society.
