At the Deafblind Association of Slovenia DLAN, we are aware of the importance of raising awareness among the general public about deafblindness and the lives of people with deafblindness. Only with greater understanding and acceptance can we as a society create a more inclusive environment for everyone.

We also pay special attention to the education of young people – future experts from various fields. That is why last week we presented the field of deafblindness to students from four faculties: the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geodesy, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Health and the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana.

We have been cooperating with individual faculties for many years and continuously carry out presentations to students or regularly host them at the premises of the DLAN Association. One such faculty is the Faculty of Social Work.

This time, we also presented the field of deafblindness to each group of students separately, the challenges faced by people with deafblindness, and the importance of appropriate and adapted communication.

People with deafblindness often participate in the presentations and present their experiences.

We are grateful for the openness and interest that students and professors have shown in this important topic. Together, we are expanding understanding and building the foundations for a more inclusive future.
