Journey Through History: From Prehistory to the World of Knights

18. 12. 2025 | Deafblind Association

At the day center of the Deafblind Association of Slovenia DLAN, we were visited by Tea Černe, curator at the National Museum of Slovenia, who took the participants on an extraordinary journey through history – from the Stone and Iron Ages to the medieval period and the world of knights.

She presented the oldest forms of human creativity, including the making of the first tools and weapons from stone, the transition to the use of iron, the earliest musical instruments made from bone, including the oldest known flute, and the significance of the famous situla as a valuable archaeological source on life in the Iron Age. She also placed special emphasis on the life of knights in the Middle Ages, the path to knighthood, and their equipment, allowing participants to handle knightly gloves and a sword and feel its weight.

For people with deafblindness, direct contact with replicas of historical objects provided a unique tactile experience and a deeper understanding of the past, while the curator’s storytelling sparked numerous questions and curiosity.

On this occasion, we sincerely thank curator Tea Černe for her accessible, engaging, and inspiring presentation, and for the openness and warmth with which she brought history closer to our participants.
