On Tuesday, 2nd of December 2025, at the Deafblind Assciation of Slovenia DLAN, Ms. Nastja Slak delivered a travel lecture on Japan.
She presented her three-week journey, during which she visited many important landmarks and became acquainted with Japanese culture, cuisine, and everyday life. With a rich collection of photographs, she took us to the multi-storey pagoda building that is part of the Chureito Pagoda Temple overlooking Mount Fuji, into picturesque bamboo forests, and onto train journeys—an essential symbol of Japan. She also presented the city of Kyoto, known for its remarkable historical architecture and numerous cultural treasures. Among the highlights, she emphasized one of Japan’s most recognizable icons—the bronze Great Buddha of Kamakura, weighing an impressive 93 tons.
Ms. Nastja also shared with attendees the touching story of Japan’s most famous dog, Hachiko, who became a symbol of loyalty for his devotion to his owner, Professor Hidesaburō Ueno of the University of Tokyo.
In the final part of the lecture, there was time for questions from our users. A pleasant discussion unfolded about Japanese culinary specialties, known especially for premium Wagyu beef, as well as about the secrets of longevity, which is a well known characteristic of the Japanese population.
We sincerely thank Nastja Slak and all who travelled together with her through the lecture and photographs.
