At the Deafblind Association of Slovenia DLAN, we joined forces to create a pleasant and joyful Carnival gathering.
Participants took the time to reflect on how they would surprise one another with original Carnival costumes. We were delighted by ladybugs, doctors, nuns, elderly ladies, clowns, Venetian masks, and dancers.
Sweet treats were also provided – delicious doughnuts and “miške” (traditional fried pastries). There was no shortage of joy, childlike playfulness, and laughter – these are the moments worth nurturing if we wish to build connection and trust.
Within the deafblind community, members are deeply aware of how precious closeness is and how important it is to co-create relationships in which there is space for everything a person is.
