Slovenian Railways – Passenger Transport, in cooperation with the Social Chamber of Slovenia, organized an introductory meeting on 3 December 2025 to discuss challenges, needs, and proposals regarding the transportation of persons with disabilities. At the meeting, two representatives of the Deafblind Association of Slovenia DLAN presented experiences related to the inclusion of persons with deafblindness in passenger transport.
The service “transport of persons with reduced mobility” was presented, offering passengers comfortable and adapted travel.
Users can check station accessibility online, announce their journey at least 24 hours in advance through a call center, and train staff ensure assistance during boarding and disembarking. The service provides support for medical limitations, older adults, transport of heavier luggage or mobility aids, overcoming mobility-sensory barriers, while at the same time encouraging greater independence of users.
With 72 new trains equipped with sound and visual signals and ramps, SŽ-PP contributes to safer and more inclusive mobility. The service is frequently used—between 50 and 100 people per month—which confirms its importance in breaking stereotypes and developing a travel culture that is based on respect for diversity and recognition of individual needs.
