On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, observed on 3 December, representatives of the Deafblind Association of Slovenia DLAN attended a reception hosted by the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Nataša Pirc Musar, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Robert Golob.
From the DLAN Association, the event was attended by the association’s President, Helena Petrovčič, with her personal assistant Spomenka Pranič, and the Secretary General, Dr. Simona Gerenčer.
The keynote speaker was Prime Minister Dr. Robert Golob, who highlighted the importance of removing physical, social, economic, and communication barriers to ensure the full inclusion of persons with disabilities in society. He also emphasized the excellent collaboration with the focal group, which has greatly contributed to improving the situation of people with disabilities. The audience was also addressed by the President of the Council for Persons with Disabilities, Mag. Mateja Toman, and the President of NSIOS, Midhet Huskić.
It was also noted that the Law on the Use of the Deafblind Language has been adopted – an important milestone that paves the way for further development and the provision of accessibility for people with deafblindness.
