Twenty years ago, she unexpectedly said “YES” – and took on the role of legal representative of the newly established Deafblind Association of Slovenia DLAN. Without hesitation. Without questions. In doing so, she assumed a responsibility she still carries today.
She didn’t know a twenty-year journey lay ahead. A path full of challenges, attacks, and exclusion. Yet Petra has always stood tall. With her head held high. With a vision of a strong deafblind community and with unwavering courage that paves the way for others.
Her heart always beats for the vulnerable. Her strength lies in never staying silent in the face of injustice.
Today, Petra compleated her PhD as one of the very few deaf scientists in Slovenia. She is a symbol of perseverance, integrity, and endless support for the deafblind community.
If anyone truly understands the difference between deafness and deafblindness – it’s Petra.
