Representatives of the Deafblind Association of Slovenia DLAN attended the exhibition “Social Work in Socialist Yugoslavia and the Republic of Slovenia 1952–2025” at Cekin Mansion, which is open until 23 November 2025.
We toured the exhibition under the expert guidance of Prof. Dr. Darja Zaviršek from the Faculty of Social Work, the author of the exhibition, who led us through the rich history of social work and its unique practice in the former socialist context.
We learned about the development and significance of social work across different periods — from the role of women, literacy, social justice, foster care, unemployment, and education, to the establishment of institutions and the contemporary challenges of the profession.
The exhibition particularly emphasized the contribution of social work to the democratization of society and the advocacy of human rights.
Congratulations to the author!
